SHABBAT MESSAGE: FEBRUARY 17, 2024

Brothers and sisters in Yeshua,

Living in Covenant: Walking in Obedience

Part 1: The Call to Obedience

In the book of Devarim (Deuteronomy), Moshe (Moses) reminds Bnei-Yisrael (the Children of Israel) about the importance of obeying the commandments of YHWH. He emphasizes that obedience is not just about following rules, but it’s a way to express our love and commitment to Elohim.

“See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse—the blessing if you obey the commands of YHWH your Elohim that I am giving you today; the curse if you disobey the commands of YHWH your Elohim and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.” (Devarim 11:26-28)

Part 2: Obedience in Action

In the book of Yehoshua (Joshua), we see the Bnei-Yisrael putting their obedience into action. They cross the Yarden (Jordan) and conquer the land of Kena’an (Canaan), not by their own strength, but by the power of YHWH. Their obedience to YHWH’s commandments leads them to victory.

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” (Yehoshua 1:7)

Part 3: The Blessings of Obedience

In the book of Vayikra (Leviticus), YHWH promises blessings for obedience. These blessings are not just material, but also spiritual - peace, protection, and His presence among His people.

“If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.” (Vayikra 26:3-4)

Conclusion

This message encourages us to live in covenant with YHWH, walking in obedience to His commandments, and experiencing the blessings that come from a life of faithfulness to Him. It’s a continuation of the journey we’ve been exploring.
