SHABBAT MESSAGE: FEBRUARY 3, 2024

Brothers and sisters in Yeshua,

Living The Covenant: A Continual Commitment

Introduction

The journey of faith is not a passive one; it’s an active commitment to living out the covenant that God established with our forefathers. This covenant is not just a historical agreement but a living commitment that affects our daily lives.

Genesis 17:7 (CJB)

“I will establish my covenant between me and you, and your descendants after you, generation after generation, as an everlasting covenant, to be God for you and for your descendants after you.”

Embracing the Covenant

The covenant began with Abraham, was solidified through Moses, and continues with us. Embracing this covenant means following the teachings and commandments of the Torah, just as our ancestors did. It’s about living a life that reflects the values and principles set forth in our sacred texts.

Deuteronomy 6:5-6 (CJB)

“And you are to love ADONAI your God with all your heart, all your being and all your resources. These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart.”

The Covenant in Daily Life

Living the covenant is not confined to our places of worship. It extends to our homes, our workplaces, and our communities. It’s reflected in how we treat others, how we conduct ourselves, and how we uphold justice and righteousness.

Micah 6:8 (CJB)

“Human being, you have already been told what is good, what ADONAI demands of you — no more than to act justly, love grace and walk in purity with your God.”

The Promise of the Covenant

God’s covenant comes with a promise - a promise of blessing, protection, and a lasting relationship with Him. As we live out this covenant, we can hold onto this promise, trusting that God is faithful to His word.

Jeremiah 29:11 (CJB)

“For I know what plans I have in mind for you,’ says ADONAI,‘plans for well-being, not for bad things; so that you can have hope and a future.”

Conclusion

As we prepare for the Shabbat, let’s reflect on what it means to live the covenant in our own lives. Let’s strive to walk in the footsteps of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, living out the covenant and carrying forward the legacy of faith.
