SHABBAT MESSAGE: JANUARY 13, 2024

Brothers and sisters in Yeshua,

COVENANT AND REDEMPTION: THE LAMB OF ELOHIM AS FULFILLMENT OF THE PESACH OFFERING

Today, we gather here to reflect on a profound truth that binds our faith and shapes our journey as believers - the Lamb of Elohim, the fulfillment of the Pesach offering, and its connection to the communion we partake in.

Pesach

In the heart of our faith lies the story of Pesach, a pivotal moment in the history of our ancestors. They were enslaved, yearning for freedom, when Elohim intervened in a powerful way. The Israelites were instructed to sacrifice a lamb, an offering, and mark their doorposts with its blood. This act of faith spared them from the final plague in Egypt, the death of the firstborn. This was the Pesach offering, a symbol of salvation and deliverance.

The Lamb of Elohim

Fast forward to centuries later, and we see this symbol take on a deeper, more profound meaning. Enter Yeshua, Jesus, who John the Baptist declared as the “Lamb of Elohim, who takes away the sin of the world!” Here was the ultimate Pesach Lamb, not just saving us from physical bondage, but from spiritual bondage - the bondage of sin.

Fulfillment of Prophecies

Yeshua, the Lamb of Elohim, was the fulfillment of the Pesach offering. His sacrifice on the cross was not just an act of immense love, but also a fulfillment of prophecy and law. He was the perfect, spotless Lamb, whose blood would bring about the ultimate deliverance for all of humanity.

Communion

And this brings us to communion. When we partake in the bread and the wine, we are not just remembering Yeshua’s sacrifice. We are participating in a sacred tradition that ties us back to our roots, to the Pesach offering, and to the covenant Elohim made with our ancestors. The bread, symbolizing Yeshua’s body, broken for us, and the wine, symbolizing His blood, shed for us, are direct links to the Pesach Lamb.

Conclusion

So, as we partake in communion today, let us remember the depth of what it represents. Let us remember the Pesach lamb, the deliverance from Egypt, and most importantly, the Lamb of Elohim, Yeshua, whose sacrifice brought us ultimate freedom. Let us remember, reflect, and rejoice in the love of Elohim, demonstrated through the Lamb of Elohim, our Pesach Lamb.

Act of Communion

Please take a piece of unleavened bread, break and eat it. Remember that Yeshua broke it in the night he was betrayed and said, "Take and eat. This symbolize my body broken for you." Also drink some grape juice. Remember that Yeshua said, "Take and drink this as symbol of my blood shed for you and as the NEW COVENANT signed in my blood."

Thank you, YHVH, for giving us Ben Elohim as the Pesach Lamb taking away our sin and shame. Aman.
